8月7日（金）、越谷コミュニティセンターで開催された「第38回インターアクト年次大会」に参加しました。県内のインターアクト部員が集まり、各校の活動紹介や研究発表を通して交流を深めました。 本校からも日頃の活動や研究成果について発表し、他校のさまざまな取組から多くの刺激を受けました。学校の枠を越えて交流し、社会や地域の課題について考える貴重な機会となりました。今後のインターアクト部の活動にも生かしていきたいと思います。

【市立浦和高校発表内容】
〇こんにちは、さいたま市立浦和高校のインターアクト部です。市立浦和の活動報告と、研究テーマについての発表をさせて頂きます。まずは、市立浦和高校のインターアクト部の紹介です。1981年に浦和東ロータリークラブの支援をうけてインターアクト部設立しました。社会に貢献できる国際人の育成を目的に結成されました。英語ディベートについては、社会問題について平和・正義・平等・人権といった理念を理解し、英語で深い議論ができる豊かな人間性の育成に力を注いでいます。部員：現在１年から３年生までで、４３名ほどいます。
〇また、その他にも、駐日米国大使 ラーム・エマニュエル氏との交流、OECDを代表する環境の専門家であるパーバード大学のフィルランバート教授との交流、さいたま市模擬国連や、SDGs子どもフォーラム、青年の主張大会、米国スタンフォード大学e-Japanプログラム　にも参加しております。特に模擬国連は、５年連続、国連大学で開催される、全国模擬国連大会に出場しています。このように、数多くの研究活動や、発表、国際交流に取り組んでいます。こちらの写真は、浦和駅東口で、ポリオ撲滅募金ボランティア活動をした時の写真です。多くの人の温かい支援を頂いた、貴重な経験をさせて頂きました。こちらは３月の韓国研修で韓国を訪問した時の写真です。異文化交流を通して多くの友人をつくることができました。世界トップ５に入る米国スタンフォード大学の「Stanford e-Japan国際異文化教育プログラム」で、全国から最優秀の１人に選ばれ、日本代表として昨年８月に渡米し研究発表を行いました。現在は、先輩は東京大学法学部に進学し、さらに研究を進めています。これも日ごろのインターアクト部の活動の成果の１つです。
〇そして、国際交流のために、普段取り組んでいる英語ディベートでは、最も権威のある「全国高校生英語ディベート大会」で７度の全国優勝を果たしています。これは、日ごろのインターアクト部での研究活動や発表活動の成果が表れていると思います。英語ディベート大会での優勝校は、世界大会に優勝校日本代表とした参加することになります。2023年には、チェコ共和国のプラハの国際大会に参加し、優勝校として日本初の決勝トーナメントに勝ち上がることができました。そして、昨年の夏の７月にタイ・バンコクの国際大会に１９名で参加してきました。英語ディベートを通して、経済や環境、人権、文化、科学時術、平和などについて深く議論をし、世界中の高校生たちと交流をしてきました。これらの優勝と、国際大会出場は朝日新聞や、埼玉新聞、さいたま市の市報の記事となり、市立浦和高校インターアクト部の取り組みを、紹介しています。それでは、次に研究発表の内容に移りたいと思います。私たちの研究テーマは「ChatGPTとSocial Media」です。ちょうど、英語ディベートでもこのテーマで研究をしましたので、「ChatGPTとSocial Media」というテーマで、英語で発表したいと思います。

〇Hello, everyone. Today, we would like to talk about what we, as teenagers, can do. We chose the topic of ChatGPT. We will explain how ChatGPT and social media can negatively affect teenagers and introduce one possible solution. Our proposal is to introduce an age restriction on ChatGPT and social media.
〇First, I would like to talk about the present situation. Today, in Japan, children are easy targets for criminals online through social media and AI chatbots such as ChatGPT. According to the report from Nifty in 2024, children are easy target for criminals. 70% of children under 16 communicate with strangers online, and 16% actually meet those strangers face to face. Criminals often pretend to be friendly to gain children’s trust. Today, AI chatbots can also encourage children to reveal personal information or continue private conversations. This makes it easier for criminals to approach children. According to the National Police Agency in 2023, more than 800 children in Japan became victims of crimes through ChatGPT and social media. Moreover, according to the Cabinet Office in 2023, only 8% of crimes against children are reported to the police. This means that 92% of these crimes remain unreported.
〇In this situation, by introducing an age restriction on ChatGPT and social media for children under 16, criminals will lose major opportunities to contact children. Children will be much less likely to share personal information, build dangerous online relationships, or become victims of serious online crimes.　It is important to protect children from serious online crimes. Victims of online crimes often suffer lifelong damage. According to the University of Pittsburgh in 2021, crime victims are more likely to develop unhealthy lifestyles. They are more likely to drink alcohol and become obese. As a result, they are 25% more likely to suffer from heart disease and 39% more likely to develop diabetes. Finally, they also face a 60% higher risk of premature death. Moreover, many victims lose confidence and experience serious mental health problems. Some later become involved in crime themselves. According to the Criminology Research Council in 2012, about 25% of victims later commit crimes.
〇For these reasons, we must protect our children from these irreversible harms before they happen. Therefore, we should introduce an age restriction on ChatGPT and social media for children under 16.
